VOGUE TDK
Norman “Vogue” Chuck is an Oakland-based graffiti artist and member of the legendary Bay Area street art collective, TDK Collective. He has been painting with aerosol for over 35 years, marked by persistent innovation, exceptional technique, and a dedication to letter construction. Vogue started out painting train yards in Oakland in the 1980s as part of the first wave of youth tagging on the West Coast. He studied graphic design and illustration at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University, incorporating what he learned back into his street art. Vogue became a leader in the development of aerosol photorealism, pioneering the skinny cap technique. His work is inspired by BMX, lowrider culture, and nature. It features clean designs, sharp calligraphy, hyperrealism, and dynamic colors. His artwork has been commissioned all over the world with clients including Netflix, Red Bull, and Converse. Spray paint brand, Montana Colors, named a line of spray paint after Vogue featuring his trademark skull image. Locally, his work has been commissioned for the East Bay Dragons, the downtown Marriott, the Ghost Ship fire memorial, and more. In 2018, his work was featured in the exhibit ‘RESPECT: Hip-Hop Style & Wisdom’ at the Oakland Museum of California. In addition to public installations and private commissions, Vogue focuses on mentoring and merging street art with video and digitally animated NFTs.
